They Show The Love

Cropped bouquet with lovePeople everywhere are contributing to charities, doing good deeds, paying it forward…and not telling a soul about it. The Bible says we actually shouldn’t be bragging to the world what good doobies we are:

“So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.  But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,  so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.  Matthew 6: 2-4

I think sometimes our Pregnancy Resource Centers subscribe to this verse, because far too many people don’t know what these centers are all about. When there is an organization that serves the community by offering programs and resources for women, men and children in need, and do it most times with no cost to the client, then we should shout it from the rooftops. Not to show what wonderful people there are working and volunteering at these organizations, but to spread the news that there is a place of hope, a place where women and families can find help, and a place where their healthy family is a top priority.

Matthew 5:16 tells us that there are times when we do want to shine our light, and that is when our deeds reflect our Father in heaven.

…”let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

The Pregnancy Resource Centers all over the country have a heart to serve. They are not doing these good deeds to serve their own ends, although there certainly is joy as a result of giving of yourself. They care deeply for the women (and men) who are facing an unplanned pregnancy, who for so many reasons, may see abortion as the only alternative. The women who enter these centers are usually in dire need of love and attention. They need resources, they need answers, they need HELP!

These Pregnancy Resource Centers unapologetically offer alternatives to abortion. Of course they do, that’s the loving thing to do. And monetary gain is not their motive as you can see below that many of these services are free. Their reward is in rescuing the unborn from a sometimes brutal death, their reward is in seeing the joy on a mom and dad’s face knowing they did not succumb to abortion, their reward is in showing God’s love to women, men and children (born and unborn). And that, is why these resource centers can, and should, let their light shine to the praise of our Heavenly Father.

I Must Be Out of My Mind

Baby Ju Ju cropped (5)

I was taken back as email after email rolled into my inbox shouting the news involving Planned Parenthood. The subject lines warned, “This Will Not Be an Easy Thing to Read,” and,Planned Parenthood Selling Body Parts.

My heart broke, knowing what I was in for if I dared to double-click and open that Pandora ’s Box. But being the pro-life advocate that I am, I had to go there and let my heart be shattered at the inhumanity that we are capable of in this world. The medical director of Planned Parenthood sat in a restaurant unaware as her spy companions filmed her eating a lovely meal as she discussed dismembered body parts of infants that she and her cohorts killed in the day-to-day business of abortion.

And I wonder…am I in Hell? Where else could such evil be accepted? Yet, millions of people in these United States convince themselves that killing your child is perfectly acceptable. Their lies are served up to us as truth and you better swallow their lies because if you don’t the world is going to call you out. Out of your mind for believing the truth that abortion is killing your child. Out of your mind for grieving your abortion. Out of your mind for wanting to vomit when you hear about harvesting babies’ body parts in just the right way so as to not make them less valuable. Out of your mind for believing it is evil to “huddle” before the daylong nameless list of infants are considered for their perfect salable parts. Out of your mind when you want to cry out to God when you hear the medical director’s callous way of referring to the baby she is going to dismember as “a 17-weeker.” And, “I knew which were the cases that were probably more likely to yield what we needed.” This is what we call advocating for women’s reproductive health??

If I am out of my mind to listen to my heart that weeps at this incredible evil of abortion, so be it. But I will cry out to God in my tears, personally knowing what abortion does to women, and now, to society, and I will pray. I will pray you reading this–any Christians who turn their blind eyes to abortion, anyone whose eyes have been blinded to what their hands do in the abortion centers, and anyone who will continue to defend abortion…I will pray, that the Creator will give you a heart of awareness to the beauty of His creation, and the undeniable, God given-right to life.

5 Ways Christians Can Prevent Abortion

Christ Follower Crop 1We Christians start out as immature in the faith, but as we mature in the knowledge of Christ, we realize how much more there is to being a Christ-Follower than sitting in a pew and soaking in the message. And if we are faithful in studying scripture, and truly following Christ, we will not have a doubt that He stands for life. So let’s follow Him and prevent abortion by:

1. Just saying “No.” I know, no one wants to hear this, but, what is the only 100%, never fail, method of birth control? I know what you’re thinking; we couldn’t possibly say no to sex before marriage. But here you have it, simple, yet effective.

2. Let God truly rule in your thoughts, mind and heart. If you are like-minded with Christ, which as a Christ-Follower you should be, then it is an easy solution to abortion. You won’t let the thought of abortion even enter your mind.

3. Be strong in the Lord. God really does see and cares what you are going through. “Do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you…”(Joshua 1:9) If you have a pregnancy that wasn’t planned and all you can see are the insurmountable problems, be strong.  He truly will be with you; you have His full attention. Believe that. And He will send others to walk with you through this.

4. Don’t be fearful of fellow Christians, or parents, or friends, or the man pushing you into abortion. Isaiah 41:10 –“So do not fear, for I am with you…I will strengthen you and help you…”  Hebrews 13:6– The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” Years from now you will wonder how you could have let someone talk you into abortion, so be fearless now.

5. Adoption. Many people are yearning for, and praying for a child, but cannot conceive. Could it possibly be that God has worked this out that you can give this blessing to another? “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him…” Romans 8:28

5 Reasons Christians Are Having Abortions

Christian Pregnant Crop 1Abortion statistics show us that many Christians are falling for the lure of the world’s standards instead of God’s standards. Thirty-seven percent of women obtaining abortions identify themselves as Protestant, and 28% identify themselves as Catholic (Abort73.com). So, why are those who profess themselves Christians, choosing abortion?

It’s complicated. But here are a few insights to help us understand:

1. They are not saying no to temptation.—It’s a simple fact of life. The seduction and pleasure of sex is very difficult to say no to. That little word, “No,” is far from our minds and lips when we’re in the moment. So when we follow our desires, we can end up with an unexpected pregnancy. (Of course we are not talking about an assault situation)

2. They are not clear about God’s word.—Does God clearly say, “Thou shall not abort your child.”? His word does not spell it out like that. If we don’t know the Word of God, it can be a license to say yes to abortion when we are in a jam and fearful of what lies ahead.

3. They fear pastors, Christian family and friends—What would the congregation say if they knew they had sex before marriage, and are now pregnant?—Are Christians judgmental? Yes, we are, or can be. It’s a fearful thing to try to live up to the expectations of some of our fellow Christians. Covering up and avoiding disclosure is much easier, for the moment.

4. They have the same life issues as non-Christians.—Christians give the same reasons for wanting an abortion as non-believers—Can’t afford a baby, can’t tell parents, (and some cases, parents force abortion) will interfere with career and school plans etc.

5. They are pro-abortion.—Believe it or not, there are Religious and/or Christian abortion supporters—Catholics for a Free Choice,  Evangelical Lutheran Church, and United Church of Christ.  (See these websites.)(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholics_for_Choice), (http://www.pewforum.org/2013/01/16/religious-groups-official-positions-on-abortion/)

A Father’s Protection

“I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong

as the need for a father’s protection.”

– Sigmund Freud

If you think about it, men are potential fathers every time they engage in the natural act of intercourse, and of course women are potential moms. There is always that possibility of creating life when you enjoy what God designed, not only for procreation, but also for our enjoyment. Sex is exciting, it’s fun, and has a side benefit of getting your heart pumping for some good exercise! But, we can’t forget that nagging other aspect of sex; you can beget children. Wow, that can be a problem in the midst of all this fun.

So we know that sex can lead to pregnancy and yet, when it happens, we are shocked. The first thought for some men might be, “I’m not ready to be a father.” Such was the case for Toure’, a co-host on MSNBC’s, The Cycle, who thanked God that when he fell into a bad situation (apparently he had no control) that abortion was there to save his life (but not his innocent baby). Here are some of his words as Toure’ talks about abortion on the anniversary of Roe v Wade:

–“…It made me reflect on a moment from about 15 years ago, when I was in a committed relationship with a woman who I knew was just not the one. She also knew it probably wasn’t going to work out and then she got pregnant. And I was terrified.”

— “And in some ways that choice saved my life.”

–“I was not then smart enough or man enough to build a family or raise a child…”

–“I thank God and country that when I fell into a bad situation, abortion was there to save me and keep me on a path toward building a strong family I have now.”

I believe he was right; he wasn’t ready to be a father. Even though he engaged in practices that led to that very thing. But heck, let’s give him the benefit of the doubt, after all he “fell into” this bad pregnancy situation. And as he said, he was in a “committed relationship” that…wait…what did he say?? “Committed relationship”…that he knew just wasn’t the one. That’s real commitment. And it always works out so well when you have sex with someone who just “ isn’t the one.”

So yes, he was right. Not father material here. And not much of a man. He does admit that he wasn’t the man he needed to be. But he believes he’s man enough now to be a father. This father, decided that the children he has now were and are worthy of protection, but the one he wasn’t planning on could suffer the consequences of his actions.

He almost had second thoughts about his love of abortion when he saw the ultrasound of one of his present children. That baby fully formed by the 2nd trimester almost swayed him into rethinking his life-long support of abortion. But, logic took hold and this father couldn’t conceive of not allowing women to have control over their own bodies (oops, forgot about that little baby’s own body).

One of the many things that is so tragic in this father’s touting of abortion, is that he doesn’t give a thought to the amazing gift of adoption. How does an intelligent man, father, protector see abortion as the only answer?

This father thinks that when men discard their unborn offspring, this makes for a “stronger family” down the road? Did he forget that he is a biological father also to the child he conceived and aborted? He was a father to that child then whether he liked it or not, whether he was ready or not, whether he was man enough or not. His family includes the baby left in the abortionist’s hands.

Many of us who have been through abortion learn over time, if not immediately, how hurtful, how sad, how wrong, and how unrelenting the pain of abortion is. But this father makes abortion sound like the cure-all, and the panacea that frightened women and men can latch onto to save their very lives. This absolutely wrong and destructive diatribe comes from someone who has not listened to his own conscience. He almost got it when he saw the ultrasound, and his pro-choice ideas were “jostled,” but he let the self-preservation side of him take over. The easy way out. The route that protects yourself, and not your unborn offspring.

I thank God for the father who puts his children, born or unborn, before his own self-preservation, the father who finds options to abortion, the father who repents of involvement in abortion, and the father who speaks in the public square for life instead of death.

That’s a real father and a real man.
